Voices on the Coast is a youth literature festival, located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The festival is made up of two student days held at USC plus a number of additional community events aimed at adults, emerging writers and readers held across the Sunshine Coast.


The student days are targeted towards students from Year 4 to Year 12 with over 150 talks and workshops over the two days. Authors and illustrators from across Australia are invited to talk and workshop with students. The student days are also open to adults and individuals. You do not have to be part of a school group to participate. Everybody is welcome!


The festival is presented by Immanuel Lutheran College and the USC.

  • Our evening begins with mixing and mingling with authors, purchase books, have them signed by the authors or purchase a pre-loved library book with proceeds to the Cherbourg Aboriginal Community. Don't forget the sausage sizzle as well.
  • If you are attending the storytelling session, you will be allocated into a storytelling pod to begin the evening at 6.30pm. Over the next hour each author will read their stories for 10 minutes and then you will move to the next pod. By the end of the evening all audience members will have listened to each of our fabulous authors.
  • If you are listening to Lynette Noni and Jessica Townsend you will be directed towards the venue just before 6.30pm
  • Don't forget your PJs, cushion, favourite blanket if you like and leave yourself enough time to purchase books and browse our pre-loved booksale.
